Plan Your Visit

Something for everyone

First, and of greatest importance to know, is that we seek to lift up the name of Jesus in all that we do. Our desire  for you when you visit is that you have an encounter with the living God regardless of where you are on your spirtual journey. We love Jesus at Freeman Heights, and we want you to know about His love for you. We live and worship in community by sharing God's love with our community.

On your first visit to FHBC you can expect to meet people from a diverse cross-section of our community, everyone is welcome. We offer 2 worship services at 8:30 and 10:50 on Sunday mornings. Check out the "1st or 2nd Service?" tab to get a feel for each one, but you should try both. We have 2 Preaching Pastors that rotate into both services each week.

We invite you to join us as we sing together songs that both articulate our faith and express God's work in our lives. Whether we sing old or new, English or Spanish, we sing together as the family of Christ.

We have classes in spanish for those who prefer that, and Spanish translation is available for the message in both worship services. We seek to reach those families that are multi-lingual and multi-generational.

We don't have a dress code so come-as-you-are, you'll fit right in. There is a row of parking along Garland avenue but park in the back, you will have quicker access to our various buildings. We have a Campus Map you can check out to see where you're looking for. But you should easily spot a friendly hospitality volunteer to point you in the right direction.  We have classes and services for kids and youth, checkout the "I Have Kids" tab for more info on that. L.I.F.E. Classes are at 9:30 on Sunday morning and they are spread around the campus, so ask that friendly Hospitalty volunteer to recommend one. Don't worry, you are never locked in, so we recommend you try a different class when you return on another Sunday until you find the fit that is right for you.

If you have questions or comments, before or after your visit, you can call the church office at 972-494-3422 or email marty.fhbc@gmail.com and your inquiry will be directed to the person best suited to assist you.

Where do I belong

L.I.F.E. Classes are a core component of who we are at Freeman Heights. L.I.F.E. Classes are what some churches call "Sunday School", but either way they are small groups of folks who meet at 9:30 on Sunday mornings sandwiched in between our 1st and 2nd worship services. Children and Youth attend their age appropriate L.I.F.E. class, and there is a spanish language L.I.F.E. class in the Adult wing.

Other adults have several English language classes to choose from. These classes meet in the Adult Education Wing and our brand new L.I.F.E. Wing, see the Campus Map to know where they are.

L.I.F.E. Classes are where we study God's word together in a dialog setting. It is where we get to know each other, pray for each other, and learn that God designed us to live in community.

If you are new to FHBC we recommend that you spend some time in different classes to find the right fit for you. You can ask a hospitality volunteer to recommend a class and point you in the right direction, and you should feel free to talk to a staff person with any questions or concerns.

You have a choice

Freeman Heights offers 2 worship services on Sunday mornings. You may be wondering what the difference is other than the time.

Many churches have a contemporary and a traditional service which have different worship music styles... but our music is the same in each service.

We also have 2 preaching pastors; Our lead Pastor, Bro. Larry Venable and Co-Pastor Bro. Mark Booker. So you may be thinking that the preacher is different in each service, but our Pastors trade off each week between the early and late service. So each service gets equal time between both Pastors. So how do you choose between the 8:30 service and the 10:50 service?

The truth is there is no wrong choice, but the biggest difference is the setting.

The 8:30 service is held in the ARK and is set up with tables and chairs. People attending this service often bring coffee, and grab some donuts as they lay out their bible on the table and receive the message in a more casual atmosphere.

Our 10:50 service is in our main Worship Center with rows of pews in a more familiar church setting, but both services are casual in their way.

Either way, whichever service you attend, our L.I.F.E. classes are at 9:30 so your choice of L.I.F.E. class does not prevent you from choosing between 1st or 2nd service. This also allows those serving in some capacity during a service, to still attend a service they are not serving in. This gives them the ability to serve in hospitality or Children's church, etc... and not have to give up going to church themselves.

The bottom line is that you can try them both, or change depending on your personal need. We have found that this arrangement works well, so even though we can't help you decide, you get to choose all the same.

Something for all ages.

If you have children of school age or younger, and you are planning a visit to Freeman Heights, one of the most impotant things to know is what we have to offer your kids and how you find their ministry area. Well you're in the right place! In this article I will be referring to buildings and areas that you are  not familiar with, so you can refer to the Campus map to help you navigate your way. So Let's Go!

Birth to Pre-K

All of our facilities for this age group are located  on the 1st floor of the ARK. You will enter through the doors that face the parking lot and check-in your son or daughter. The check-in staff will require  your name, and phone number, as well as your child's name and any allergies or special instructions that you have. You will also be required to show some form of ID when you first register your child, and may require it to pick them up. We should provide you with a check-in receipt that allows the bearer to pick up the child. If that is lost, ID will be required.

K-5th Grade

All of our facilities for this age group are located  in the newly renovated Children's building. Come with your children to the check-in entrance. There you will check-in / pick-up your son or daughter. The check-in staff will require  your name, and phone number, as well as your child's name and any allergies or special instructions that you have. You will also be required to show some form of ID when you first register your child, and we may require it to pick them up. We should provide you with a check-in receipt that allows the bearer to pick up the child. If that is lost, ID will be required. Our children's building is a locked, limited access building staffed by trained workers who have been background checked through Ministry Safe. Parents are welcome to take a guided tour of the facility but must be accompanied by a vetted children's ministry worker if there is a need to enter beyond the check-in desk.

Following the Kids L.I.F.E. class, the "Kids Leaders" will escort the K-5th grade children to the Worship Center for the beginning of the 10:50 service. About 15 min. into the service all children are invited to come to the front for our Children's sermon, after which "Kid's Leaders" will escort them back to the Kids Building for Children's Church. At this point if you have not already checked your child in, we ask that you follow us to the check-in area to check-in your child.

Children's Church

Freeman Kids Children's Church service happens at 10:50, during the Adult Worship Service. All children begin in the adult service for the first part of the service and leave as a group after the Children's sermon, to go to the secure children's building for great fun, learning about Jesus.

We ask that parents come to the check-in area immediately after service to check-out their kids, and find out what they learned that day.
